Brief Summary of Expressions of Interest

A total of 18 Expressions of Interest (EOI) were received in response to DOE’s Request for Expressions of Interest in an Advanced Burner Reactor (ABR) and a Consolidated Fuel Treatment Center (CFTC), published in the Federal Register on August 7, 2006.

The Department will only make limited information available on these EOIs, principally because many contain information that has been identified by the submitters as proprietary or business sensitive. As such, the United States Government is required by law to take steps to protect that information from unauthorized disclosure.

The following entities have granted permission to the Department to list their names here as submitters of an EOI:

—AECL Technologies, Inc.
—AREVA/WGI/BWXT
—Belgonucleaire
—Electric Power Research Institute
—Energy Solutions
— Fuel Cycle Concepts
—General Atomics
—General Electric
—Japan Atomic Energy Agency
—Kiewit Federal Group, Inc.
—Shaw Group
—Thorium Power, Inc.
—Mr. William Peterson

The Department has not yet made any decisions regarding a potential acquisition strategy for an ABR or CFTC.
